Nightmare Before the End: "Throughout the Ages!" prompt

Newblood (5 years old)

Born without arms, elbows and a neck, Reed isn't easily bothered by other deformities lurking in Limbo. At this age, she cannot speak as her voice box is not fully developed. Despite this, she is not a crybaby and is always happy, loving and ginormously curious. One would often wonder how the hell she survives her frequent visits to the Keep where Minos the minotaur lives. It's really hard to shake her off ones she locks down on someone. Even Rif, the lantern man, made a floating music box for Reed just so she would lay off bothering him in the Pumpkin Patch. The music box has a rose insigna on its cover, still in sprout form and without thorns. Reed's favorite pastime now is chasing ember flies while riding atop this floating music box. She wears hairpins and a hooded franciscan robe without the long sleeves.

Little Nyghtmare (currently 10 years old)

Like the other little nyghtmares, Reed is tasked to save and protect "the living" children from monsters formed within their nightmares. Small cracks are starting to form on her face as she battles the dark entities. A pair of small horns have also started to grow on her head. Reed wields two pairs of scissors as her weapons while her floating music box served as a shield. She and her partner, Khepera, can often be seen sparring against each other. They came to love dancing ballet after defeating a boogeyman in a theater-themed dreamworld, somehow indicating that the monster imprinted a part of it on them both. Reed is also able to talk now and she says whatever comes to her mind without actually thinking whether or not it's rude to do so. Her curiousity is still a pain as constant questions bombard any unfortunate individual she comes across. She is still fond of chasing ember flies and is often berated by Khepera for not focusing on whatever they're doing. Reed now wears a princessy, ballet dress and a pair of ballet shoes that can make her float.

Full-grown Nyghtmare (16 years old)

Reed now helps train little nyghtmares in the ways of Nyghtmares. Larger cracks are appearing not just on her face but also on various parts of her body. The horns on her head are now more visible and the upper parts of her ears are becoming pointed. Her upper arms and parts of her wrists are starting to grow as well. Reed's weapon has evolved from two simple large scissors into two larger scissors with sawlike blades and handgrip. Her music box also became larger, so much so that three weapon charms are needed to house it and that she cannot glue it to her back anymore like she used to. Everyone in Limbo is now used to Reed's chatterbox. The Reapers, Yorick and the other Nyghtmares all found it beneficial to just let her be as she is often unaffected by any efforts to make her stop talking. Reed often accompanies the little kid nyghtmares on their missions, showing them how to effectively defeat monsters. She now has a nasty habit of slowly beheading the poor monsters while they are still 'alive', which makes her a really bad role-model. For convenience and ease of movement, Reed now wears a tube-topped short dress.

Berserk Nyghtmare / Reaper (?)

Most of Reed's face has deteriorated into nothingness sometime between her 16th and 25th year in Limbo. She is now blind and relies solely on her other heightened senses. Aside from Reed's face, the cracks on her other body parts have all disappeared and her skin seemed to be as hard as metal. Her horns are longer now and her ears have also changed. Reed's arms are now fully formed and the only things that remind others of her original appearance are her color, the non-existent neck, and the keyhole on her belly. Reed hardly ever uses her scissor-weapons as she now has large thorns that can fly and penetrate through anything. Her floating music box has also evolved that she can now easily lie straight inside it. The rose insigna on the music box is now in full bloom and surrounded with thorns, too. Remarkably, Reed is more reserved compared to when she was younger. Those who do not know her will easily think that she's angry, cruel, cold and antisocial. But in truth, Reed is still that friendly, loving, curious, crazy little blabbermouth. She now helps Minos manage the Keep, often decorating unfortunate soul binders much to the minotaur's dismay. Reed also enjoys terrorizing newbloods, little nyghtmares and Yorick with her antics. She wears a long priestess robe and she can now also float on her own. It is unknown whether or not Reed is now a Reaper herself as she can already use the elements without drawing her weapon.

In panel two, Reed is in a dreamworld battling a monster (behind the camera), hence, the white trees with colorful leaves in the background, while her music box circles around her very fast. In panel four, uhh.. is there a moon in Limbo? Idk ~LOL! Anyway, in panel three, the blue candy monster has no blood spilling out because I forgot to add it in! XD

I absolutely enjoyed making this~ I wanted to see how Reed would be growing up in Limbo under 'normal' circumstances just like how she would in the living world if she didn't die. I'm still not done with her design at the moment so I will keep on developing it. And... I promise to make better backgrounds in the future..


FUN FACTS:
- Originally, it was Reed's father who made the music box for her, not the lantern man.
- The original music box was heart-shaped, not a coffin-shaped one.
- Reed and Khepera's love for ballet actually started back in each other's hometown when they were still alive.
- In both this meme and the human!Reed meme, two heads are looking left, another head is looking right and one is looking at you.
- Reed didn't have horns before this meme.
